Registering 3CX and X-Lite to Asterisk or Elastix or FreePBX

Register 3CX or X-Lite with Asterisk

In our recent post, we learned how to configure extension with voicemail enabled and user in Asterisk. In case you missed to read the article, here is the link:

In this article, we will see how to register 3CX Softphone and X-Lite Softphone with Asterisk or Elastix or FreePBX.

Let’s first try to register with 3CX Softphone:

Registering 3CX Softphone with Asterisk

  • Launch 3CX Softphone Application
  • Right Click on the Main Window where you see 3CX is written as shown below

  • Click on Accounts

  • Click on New

  • Enter the details which we have created while configuring extension with voicemail and user:
  • Account Name : Enter the name of the person who is going to use the Softphone
  • Caller ID : Enter the Caller ID / Extension Number
  • Extension : Enter the Extension Number
  • ID : Enter the Extension Number
  • Password : Enter the Secret Password which we have created for the user
  • Radio Check : I am in the office – local IP – Enter the IP Address of Asterisk
  • Click on OK

  • Click on OK

  • Now you could see that the 3CX Softphone is registered to Asterisk.

Registering X-Lite Softphone with Asterisk

  • Launch X-Lite Softphone Application
  • Right Click on the screen and click on SIP Account Settings…

  • Click on Add..

  • Enter the details which we have created while configuring extension with voicemail and user:
  • Display Name : Enter the name of the person who is going to use the Softphone
  • User Name : Enter the Extension Number
  • Password : Enter the Secret Password which we have created for the user
  • Authorization User Name : Enter the Extension Number
  • Domain – Enter the IP Address of Asterisk
  • Click on OK

  • Click on Close

  • Now you could see that the X-Lite Softphone is registered to Asterisk.

Hurray! Both 3CX and X-Lite phones can be now registered to Asterisk or Elastix or FreePBX.
